The Providence Bruins continued their strong January push over the weekend, going 2-0-1 and extending their point streak to seven games. Here is a recap of the weekend’s games.
Friday, January 18 vs. Springfield, 2-1 Shootout Win:
It took six rounds of a shootout for someone to find the back of the net, but Trent Frederic tallied the game winner to give the P-Bruins a 2-1 win over the Thunderbirds. Karson Kuhlman scored in regulation and Zane McIntyre made 23 saves on 24 shots.
Saturday, January 19 vs. Bridgeport, 4-3 Shootout Loss:
Despite leading 3-1 at the start of the third, Providence surrendered two goals in the first five minutes of the period before ultimately losing in a shootout.
Jordan Szwarz gave the P-Bruins a 1-0 in the first before Kieffer Bellows evened the score at 14:25. Goals from Mark McNeill and Zach Senyshyn in the second gave Providence a 3-1 lead before the third period collapse. Dan Vladar made 12 saves on 15 shots.
Monday, January 21 vs. Hartford, 5-2 Win:
Paul Carey led the way for Providence with a hat trick and McIntyre made 23 saves in a dominant 5-2 victory over the Wolf Pack on Monday. Karson Kuhlman had a goal and an assist and Connor Clifton scored an empty netter.
The P-Bruins will close out January with two home games against Charlotte and Springfield this weekend. They will travel to Charlotte for two games next weekend.
With at least a point in their last seven games, the P-Bruins sit in fifth place in the Atlantic Division with 47 points. They are one point behind the fourth-placed Springfield Thunderbirds and two points behind the third-placed Lehigh Valley Phantoms.
